SUMMARY:HuMUS Webinar: Soil Health Training
DESCRIPTION:On 20 March the Healthy Municipal Soils (HuMUS) Project hosted its second webinar to discuss training and education for improving soil health. This event convened soil experts\, educators\, community organisers\, representatives of European municipalities and regions\, and EU policymakers to co-create knowledge on the potential of training and education programs for enhancing the health of European soils. \nHuMUS is developing training programmes that are publicly available to increase awareness and understanding of the value of soils and soil health challenges and their bio-physical and socio-economic drivers across Europe. These resources aim to provide regions and municipalities with information to make informed decisions. The webinar soundboarded preliminary progress from the HuMUS Soil Stewards Training Program\, shared challenges of the development process\, and drew inspiration from successful training methodologies.  \nParticipation is at the heart of the EU Soil Mission. The HuMUS project works together with inspiring EU projects to advance our common mission: improve soil health across Europe. We welcome the participation and input from all Mission Soil projects in the webinar to foster a common understanding of the benefits\, challenges\, and priorities for soil health education.  \nWatch the recording here!\n  \n \nRegister at the link below! SUMMARY:HuMUS Open Call Info Day
DESCRIPTION:An online Info day on the HuMUS Call for Proposals is organised on 7 March 2024 from 10:30 am-12:30 pm CET. Registration is available at this link until 5 March at 5:00 pm! \nJoin us and ask your questions directly to the consortium to strengthen your application and win €30\,000! \nFor those interested who cannot make it\, the recording of the info day will be available on the project website. We recommend reading the FAQ page or sending new requests for clarifications to info@humus-project.eu. \nThe deadline for the HuMUS Open Call for Pilot proposals has been extended to 5 April 2024 at midnight CEST. \nThe extension has been granted to promote and facilitate the presentation of a higher number of candidatures\, considering that this is the only opportunity for funding made available by the project during its 3-year lifetime. Applicants who have already filed their proposal on the ANCI Toscana GoodGrantsTM platform can leave it unchanged or modify its contents until the new deadline. \nAs a consequence of the extension\, the expected date of the notification of results is postponed to 16 May 2024 and that of the signature of the subgrant agreements to 15 June 2024. These changes have been made in the new version of the Call text\, which can be retrieved here: https://www.humus-project.eu/open-call/ \nNo other significant modification has been made to the content of the Call\, so that already existing and new applications will be evaluated on an equal basis.

SUMMARY:EU Soil Day
DESCRIPTION:The EU Soil Day event will set the scene for the EU Soil agenda to protect and restore soils and ensure their sustainability\, providing an update on the Mission â€ËœA Soil Deal for Europeâ€â„¢ and learning about EU funding programmes supporting solutions such as Horizon Europe\, LIFE and also the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). Ahead of the European Mission Soil Week that will take place in Madrid later that same month\,  the event will be an opportunity to have a complete overview both from the policy and projects’ point of view\, with a specific regional and local approach. The Region of Murcia\, with the support of the EU Spanish Presidency\, has teamed up with the ERRIN Network\, the HUMUS project\, the Spanish Office for Science and Technology – SOST CDTI\, and several EU-funded projects related to Soil challenges to ensure the interest and success of this initiative. Additionally\, representatives from DG AGRI\, DG ENV\, DG CLIMA\, JRC\, and CINEA will enrich the content and discussions and we will be able to learn about challenges and solutions on the ground from EU-funded projects. \nAnnalaura Vannuccini and Francesco Molinari from Anci Toscana will present the HuMUS Project and launch the Open Call for proposals to fund pilot projects that contribute to effective exchanges of experiences between municipalities and regions across Europe\, creating spaces and practices for discussion and dialogues on soil health challenges and promoting the co-implementation of solutions aligned with societal needs.

SUMMARY:HuMUS Webinar: Participatory methods to enhance soil health
DESCRIPTION:The HuMUS Project invites you to its first local soil health webinar on Thursday\, October 19\, at 10:00-11:30 am CEST! This event will convene representatives of European municipalities and regions\, EU policymakers\, and soil health advocates to discuss soil health regeneration focusing on participatory methods. For HuMUS\, participation means that the stakeholders and citizens take part in decision-making processes and their final products. To document and foster local participation\, the project will publish a catalogue of best practices in citizen and stakeholder engagement on soil health at the municipal and regional levels\, including the implementation of participatory methods\, tools\, and approaches for stakeholder engagement in action research on soil use and land management. Further\, in regional and territorial case studies\, HuMUS develops participatory activities and creates spaces of dialogue. \nThe webinar will share preliminary research results from these lines of work. Join to learn about an open call coming up at the end of the year to fund initiatives and organisations across Europe to develop and implement participatory processes that stimulate dialogue on soil and land use and increase awareness of soil health at the regional and municipal levels. \nParticipation is at the heart of Mission Soil too. The HuMUS project works together with inspiring EU projects to advance our common mission: improve soil health across Europe. In the second part of the event\, you will hear from soil experts to foster a common understanding on soil health and stakeholder participation. \nRECORDING AVAILABLE \nREGISTER HERE \nAgenda\nWelcome and introduction to the HuMUS project\nFrancesco Molinari\, Project Manager\, ANCI Toscana \n  \nPresentations of preliminary research \nRaphael Tiziani\, Research Assistant\, UNIBZ \n\nWP1: Soil Intelligence [SLIDES]   \n\nThis presentation introduces WP1 (Soil Intelligence) which gathers all desk analyses and preparatory initiatives to support the citizen and stakeholder dialogues.\n\n\n\nCarmen Navarro Mezquita\, Graduate in Geography\, Department of Organic Production\, AGAPA \n\nEstablishing the regional dialogues on soil health: how we plan to carry them out [SLIDES] \n\nBy involving all Quadruple Helix stakeholders\, we aim to develop and test the participatory methodology to identify and implement joint solutions to soil problems.\n\n\n\nAlberto Mataran Ruiz\, Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Granada\, visiting scholar at the Department of Geography at the University of Cambridge  \n\nBest practices on participation based on the biodistrict approach for regions and municipalities [SLIDES] \n\nBased on the biodistrict approach\, the presentation will focus on best practices concerning the implementation of Participatory Research and Action on soil use and land management at municipal and regional level\n\n\n\nDr. Marianne Hoogmoed\, Researcher of Soil and Sustainable Cultivation\, Louis Bolk Institute \n\nFacilitating regional dialogues on soil health [SLIDES] \n\nLouis Bolk Institute developed a participatory tool to create semi-structured dialogues between different stakeholders about the different ecosystem services in relation to soil health.
